One of the misconceptions about breeders is our motivation. For a hobby breeder like myself, and Linda who bred and co-owns Melanie with me, it's about the breed. When we heard that Melanie's half sister had a medical emergency that resulted in her being altered, we knew that her owner Janice was crushed. Tuna was her world and she was having a ball with her. Having just lost my Meg I knew the feeling of losing your dreams for the future and, though Tuna continues to live as a beloved pet, Janice's heartbreak was similar to my own. We had just bred Melanie to Merlin again and we knew what we had to do, because we were the only ones who had something closely related. Together we chose a beautiful clear bitch for her, a gift both for her and to the breed because we knew she would go off and make her mark.

Little did we know the trail she would blaze! Reo finished her show championship at 12 months of age already a Best of Breed winner over specials. She continued on and finished her grand championship at 16 months. Now a multi-Best of Breed winner as of this writing (I will probably have to continue updating this page!) she shows no signs of stopping, bringing her loving owner Janice along for a ride of a lifetime. Linda and I both know the best return on a dog is the joy of seeing them validate the hard work and years of decisions that led up to the puppies we brought into the world.
